Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Lotto Draws and lottery statistics.

Where does Lotto Draws get its data?

All lottery drawing data is sourced from the New York State Open Data portal, a publicly accessible government database. This ensures our data is official, reliable, and verifiable. Our system automatically checks for new results twice daily.

How often is the data updated?

Our automated system checks for new drawing results twice daily — once shortly after midnight Eastern Time and again at 11:00 AM ET. New results typically appear on our site within hours of the official drawing.

What are hot and cold numbers?

Hot numbers are those that have been drawn more frequently than average in recent drawings. Cold numbers are those drawn less frequently than average. These labels are based purely on historical frequency — they do not predict future outcomes, as each drawing is an independent random event.

Can statistics predict winning lottery numbers?

No. Lottery drawings are completely random events, and each drawing is independent of all previous drawings.

Statistical analysis can show historical patterns, but these patterns have no predictive power for future results. No system, software, or strategy can improve your odds of winning. Our analysis is for entertainment and educational purposes only.

What are the odds of winning the Powerball jackpot?

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are approximately 1 in 292.2 million. You must match all five main numbers (from 1–69) plus the Powerball number (from 1–26). However, there are nine prize tiers with better odds — for example, matching just the Powerball has odds of about 1 in 38. Learn more about how Powerball works.

What are the odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot?

The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are approximately 1 in 302.6 million. You must match all five main numbers (from 1–70) plus the Mega Ball (from 1–25). Like Powerball, there are nine prize tiers with better odds for partial matches. Learn more about how Mega Millions works.

Why do you account for rule changes?

Both Powerball and Mega Millions have changed their number pools over the years. For example, Powerball expanded from 59 main numbers to 69 in 2015. Analyzing numbers from the old format alongside the current format would skew the statistics, so we focus on drawings under the current game rules to provide the most relevant analysis.

What does “number frequency” mean?

Number frequency refers to how many times a specific number has appeared in lottery drawings over a given period. For example, if the number 23 has been drawn 45 times out of 500 drawings, its frequency is 45. We display frequencies for both main numbers and bonus balls (Powerball/Mega Ball).

How is the odd/even analysis calculated?

For each drawing, we count how many of the five main numbers are odd and how many are even. Over thousands of drawings, we calculate the average ratio. This reveals common distribution patterns — for example, drawings with a 3-odd/2-even split are typically more common than all-odd or all-even combinations.

Does Lotto Draws sell lottery tickets?

No. Lotto Draws is purely an informational and entertainment website. We do not sell lottery tickets, accept wagers, or provide any gambling services. To purchase lottery tickets, visit an authorized retailer in your state or use your state's official online lottery platform where available.

Is Lotto Draws affiliated with Powerball or Mega Millions?

No. Lotto Draws is an independent website and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Powerball, the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL), Mega Millions, or any state lottery commission.

Is the site free to use?

Yes, Lotto Draws is completely free to use. No registration, subscription, or payment is required. We believe lottery data should be accessible to everyone.
